Hello! My name is Elmer. I'm a hound mix, and Mutts Matter thinks I might have some Rhodesian Ridgeback in me too. I'm about a year old, 40lbs, and am a very sweet boy who still has some puppy energy in me. I love to run and play fetch, and when I run and chase the ball, I spring in the air like a deer. I love to go to the dog park and play with my fellow canine buddies, but I'd be perfectly happy as an only-pup too. What I love most is to lay right next to you while I chew my bone and just be. I'm potty-trained, crate-trained, and walk pretty well on a leash. I already know the sit command, and my foster family is teaching me to stay and lay down. I'll do anything for a treat.
I was rescued because I was a victim of the Alabama tornado. I lost my home and my family. Thankfully, Mutts Matter took me in and I have a second chance at a great life. I need a family who will make me feel secure and can show me some leadership because I haven't had much stability in my life lately. I tend to be a little protective of my food bowl and sometimes when I get a new bone, but I’m learning the drop command and anxious to learn more. I’m very food motivated and smart, and with some consistency and a family who will spend a little time working with me to learn new things, I will be the best dog ever... You'll see if you give me a chance.
Mutts Matter thinks I would do great in a home with a fenced yard where I can run and play, but mostly I'm looking for a family who will love me, and I will love them back wholeheartedly.
