Pierre de Fermat Short Biography
Pierre de Fermat was a French lawyer. He is well known for infinitesimal calculus and differential calculus and the popular number theory. The place where Fermat was born is now a museum. He studied in the University of Toulouse. He changed his name from Pierre Fermat to Pierre de Fermat.
Varia opera mathematica published his works in Analytical geometry. He found number of techniques to calculate the centre of gravity. He invented the Fermat’s factorization method. Fermat’s principle of least time was the first variational principle. He also developed the principle of least action.
