Goh Ching Lee, curator of the Voyage Night Festival 2011, said: "Our forefathers came from different parts of Asia and Europe, and they came to Singapore and built Singapore not only as a trading entrepot but also a cultural entrepot as well, because we have many different communities that were living here, not just the Chinese, Malays and the Indians but also Jews, Armenians and Arabs who came to trade and find a new home in Singapore."
While paying homage to pioneering forefathers who left behind legacies that helped shape Singapore, the event will also see various unique performances.
They went on many adventures, even embarking on a journey retracing the routes of Ulysses of Homer's story, capturing various sounds such as conversations between Libyan fisherman and distant radio noises, and more.
Voyage Night Festival 2011 is presented by the National Museum of Singapore with the Singapore Art Museum, Peranakan Museum, The Substation and Singapore Management University.
