The event was organised by the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council of India, supported by the ministry of commerce and industry. The event flagged off on 15th August. The original day, taking place on Independence Day, drew a huge crowd from opening ceremony to closing. Leading models and Bollywood actresses walked the ramp as they sported the finelooking jewellery creations. The showstoppers on the initial day were the gorgeous Katrina Kaif and the scintillating Deepika Padukone. Liquor baron’s son Siddharth Mallya was seen cheering for Deepika as she walked the ramp.
