Andy Reid went out of his way when the eagles picked up Steve Smith to say that the deal had nothing to do with the state of Jeremy Maclin's health.

ShareDigg DiggDeSean Jackson has reported to training camp and is practicing with the Philadelphia Eagles. He seems pretty impressive so far as he’s already burned Asante Samuel twice for a pair of long TDs.

He’s also chiming in on the Jeremy Maclin situation and the Eagles’ recent acquisition of former rival wideout Steve Smith, which Jackson says is pretty much Maclin insurance.

Andy Reid went out of his way when the team picked up Smith to say that the deal had nothing to do with the state of Maclin’s health, which has been a bit of an enigma thus far.

Last week the Eagles wide receiver, who has been struggling with an undisclosed illness for at least five months, left training camp to undergo more testing in his hometown of St. Louis.

Maclin’s brother says Jeremy will have news this afternoon (Tuesday) and, at that time, they’ll be able to map out a course of action to get him back on the field with his teammates.
