R N Nayak has been appointed as the new Chairman and Managing Director of state-run Power Grid Corporation and will take over from incumbent S K Chaturvedi, who is retiring next month.
Nayak is Director (Operations) of Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) and would assume the new post from September, according to a Power Ministry communication.
His appointment would be for a period of five years starting from the day of taking charge on or after September 1, or till the time of superannuation, whichever is earliest, it said.
Chaturvedi, who has been serving as Chairman and Managing Director of PGCIL since August 1, 2008, would be retiring on August 31, 2011.
At the company, he has handled various functions including engineering, load despatch & communication, contract management, telecom and human resources.
