If you are like most women, just because you’re pregnant doesn’t mean the bills stop, meaning you have to work throughout your pregnancy. I was in that position and worked right up until the weekend before my baby was born. This of course is contingent up having no pregnancy complications.

First you need to tell people that you’re pregnant, especially your boss. This makes it easier if you are limited to certain function of your job, like traveling etc.

Be safe and in control, especially if you work in a hazardous industry. Like working with certain chemicals, or a very physical job like lifting or running etc.

Stay Stress free. This may require you having a conversation with your superiors if you have a heavy workload, because you need your rest.

Make sure you eat frequently. I don’t mean large meals, I mean snacks. They help control nausea in early pregnancy and actually give you good energy in the later months. It also helps battle heartburn.

You need to make sure you move around. Take a short break and walk around, this helps improve circulation and prevents swelling of your lower limbs. Talk to your boss about a short nap a lunch time if possible.

Make certain that your workstation is comfortable. Get a comfortable chair for lower back support; make sure you have enough leg room to stretch your legs frequently. This help a lot in later months when swelling can occur.

Education yourself and know your rights. Knowledge is power, and knowing your rights at work during and after pregnancy will only help you if certain situations arise. Women are entitled to 12 weeks of paid leave and still have their job. You also have the right to work as long into your pregnancy as you feel.

This advice helped me. Making your work situation better for yourself and your baby will be beneficial for you, your baby and your employer.
