Bob Levey/Getty Images There’s nothing more deflating as a fantasy football owner than drafting a running back only to watch him flop.
Even middle to late round running backs have been known to make valuable productions, and sometimes be worth pulling a starter depending on the matchup.
The fact of the matter is that running back is probably the most important position that you could draft, so you need to draft smartly.
Jahvid Best, Detroit Lions: The general thought on Best is that he is extremely explosive and should be good for a few big runs during the game. The problem with him is that he is extremely inconsistent. If he’s not breaking off a big run, chances are he is getting stuffed in the backfield. He has also struggled with injuries. I think Best is going to be a fantasy bust.
Arian Foster, Houston Texans: Many have Foster slated down as the No. 1 running back in the league, which consequently would make him the No. 1 overall pick in many drafts. My advice: Do not take Arian Foster before any of the other upper tier running backs, or even an elite quarterback. Why you ask? One, Foster has already been hurt in training camp, which is not a good sign. Two, he lost arguably the leagues’ best blocking fullback in free agency. Three, he only really had one breakout season; it’s too early to deem him elite. He’ll be good, but if you’re drafting him to be great you will be extremely disappointed.
Darren McFadden, Oakland Raiders: McFadden has shown some sparks of brilliance that would lead you to believe that he is a solid choice in the first two rounds of a draft. The problem is that he has had tons of injury concerns, and he has missed significant time during his career. I would take him in the latter rounds of the draft no problem, but in the first few rounds I am staying clear of McFadden.
You might want to re-word how you put Chris Johnson rushing for 2006 yards... it sounds like you're saying he ran for 2006 yards last year... I get what you're saying, but its confusing... maybe state what year he did.

Ummm, big disappointment in fantasy football last year? I drafted Matt Scaub because he was supposed to be great, well Flacco outperformed him last year and ranked 10th in fantasy points....so?

Two words: Lawrence Vickers. And also you're bringing up other players with regards to their past and not the person the article was written about. Nothing to see here.

I'm supposed to take advice from someone who ranked Ray Rice as the top RB? Really? Also, I'm taking Arian Foster (not first overall, but as my keeper at #9).

yeah arian foster wont put up the same numbers like last year... those are pretty hard to replicate but to say that he wont do anything, you might have down syndrome.
